RE: New Holland - What to Expect??
Posted by: bon Date posted: 02/25/2008 06:02:17 AM
I have been going to this sale for over 30 years. There is a Vet on call during the sale and a member of the Animal protection(SPCA) to ensure the safety of the hosres. However, this sale gets a bad rap due to the condition of some of the horses. Keep in mind it's the owners of the horses that haven't provided food, water and shelter. They can no longer maintain the upkeep of the horses and so they end up at the sale. And yes for more years than I can remember there have been "kill buyers" at this sale. What are we to do with these animals that people have put in such deplorable conditions.
People who cannot afford feed and hay should then not even think about the purchase of a horse.
