Abcess

What is the easiest way to tell if youre horse is ready to ride after an abcess? I have a tennessee walker with an abcess in his front left hoof. The vet was out and he dug the abcess out with it only draining a little. He now puts weight on it no problem and there is no tenderness to palptation. He finished hi antibiotics and its been a week tuesday. Do you rec. that he rest for two weeks or do you guys think he is ready for light riding?
