Hello,
I was sorry to read your ad that you are finding a new home for your horse. I understand your circumstance though but also wanted to add this.. with your mare being that age, have you thought about just keeping her anyway and letting her just "hang around".? I wonder if it might be better for her that way then putting her through the stress of a new environment? Just a thought, I know it's not always in the budget (and use that loosely) to have more than one horse. I have a senior horse to but I decided to keep him anyway - when I sold him four years ago, he was a perfectly healthy horse, living turned out 24/7 then he went to his new wonderful home but his new owner stalled him - now he has COPD - he's on medication on bad days but his riding days are few and far between because he has flare-ups. I still wanted him to come home anyway to me when she retired and here he is - doing better now that he's turned out again - so I'm hoping that things will get back to more riding but I'm just enjoying having him back. He is almost 20 and a big, beautiful black Percheron aptly named, Thor.
Good luck with whatever you do, I wish we could all take in horses like this.
